2-DAY TERRACOTA FIGURE SCULPTURE WORKSHOP

Location: The Noyes Arts Garage in Atlantic City, NJ.
Dates: Monday July 21st and Tuesday July 22nd.
Times: 10:30 am to 5:30 pm (6 hrs in studio each day)
Ages: 18 and older ( Photography/video is not allowed while model is nude.)
Fee: $360
Limited to 6 participants
I will instruct, do demonstrations and sculpt along all participants. Welcome to all skill levels, from beginners to professionals.
Each participant will work with a movable sculpture stand. Participants will be encouraged to rotate around the model constantly to be able to sculpt around the model and capture as many angles as possible.
This intensive sculpture workshop will entail the creation of one small figure in water-based clay suitable for firing in a kiln. It includes a total of two studio days with a live model, six hours per day and art tour.
Immerse yourself in the art of figure sculpting with terracota water-based clay suitable for firing in a kiln. In this dynamic workshop featuring a live model, she will keep a dynamic pose for two day to create a small figure sculpture in water-based clay suitable for firing. This hands-on experience is designed for artists of all skill levels who wish to enhance their understanding of the human form, gesture and movement.
What You’ll Experience:
- Live Model Session: Sculpt from a professional model in a gestural pose, allowing you to capture the nuances of the human figure in real time.
- Guided Techniques: Learn essential sculpting techniques, including gesture, proportion, and form, to create lifelike representations.

- Creative Exploration: Experiment with different tools—to discover what works best for you.
- Tour to Greek Temple: It includes a quick tour to the Greek monument in Atlantic City. To analyze the sculpture “Liberty in Distress”
- All Materials, tools included and Parking is included. Bring a sweater because the Air conditioning is strong at the Studios.
We will sketch with a live model for 30 mins the selected dynamic pose from different angles. Then we proceed to work with the clay.
Each participants will have a sculpture stand with wheels. We will sculpt by rotating around the model as often as possible to capture all angles. We will concentrate in proportions, gesture, big forms, shadows and avoid details.
Each participant will work on a Movable Sculpture Stands. All sculptors will be encouraged to constantly rotate around the model to capture different angles.

We will continue to work on the same pose . Work on unifying the forms, keeping the gesture and jump in to details.
We will spend an hour to analyze the sculpture inside the Greek Temple-style in O’Donnell Park in Atlantic City. The central sculpture,"Liberty in Distress" by Frederick MacMonnies is a prominent feature of the World War I Memorial. It depicts a nude Lady Liberty mourning over a fallen soldier, symbolizing the sorrows of war.
